The demand responsive transport services: Italian approach
نویسنده
چکیده
The dial-services are an excellent connection between classical forms of collective and private transport; they are the answer to the development of transport demand from homogeneous travels (homeloffice, homelfactory, home/school in limited areas and periods) to not homogeneous travels (short continuous travels toward many different destinations); they are also the answer to the growing need of travels from specific consumers' classes such as disabled, elders and students. It is a new transport form more oriented to meet the consumers' requirements. It is possible to identify four operative levels of the DTRS (Demand Responsive Transport Services). Level one: fixed itineraries and fixed stops with possibility of access through booking. Level two: fixed itineraries with possibility of detours within specific boundaries and fixed optional stops. Level three: service with free routes between fixed points. Level four: service with free routes between free points. This paper aims at describing the above-mentioned transport systems and at analysing their efficacy, productivity and consumers' opinions, providing some examples experienced in Florence (PersonalBus) and in Genoa (DrinBus). 1 Definition and general features The concept of demand responsive transport was first formulated in the USA around 1990 as a solution to the rising disaffection of potential users, in particular during the night. Analysis of Demand-responsive Transport Services: a Microsimulation Approach
Demand-Responsive Transport Services (DRTS) are an attempt to improve the efficiency of public transport when demand is sporadic. The DRT service simulator that we have developed analyses most of the random events, such as traffic congestion and the arrival time of passengers at their pickup points, which ultimately affect the quality of the service. We assume that vehicles are moving within th...

Demand Responsive Shared Transport (DRST) services take advantage of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), to provide “on demand” transport services booking in real time a ride on a shared vehicle. In this paper, an agent-based model (ABM) is presented to test different the feasibility of different service configurations in a real context. First results show the impact of route choi...

متن کاملDetermination of Effective Travel Variables on Air Transport Demand with Using Structural Equation
Air transport system has always been involved in all aspects of life because of its high potential in transporting passengers and goods. In this research we surveys the effects of travel variables on demand of domestic air transport, and for gathering required information from passengers, a questionnaire was designed including 20 effective parameters on air transport demand with questions These...
متن کاملA framework for agent based simulation of demand responsive transport systems
Demand responsive transport (DRT), such as shared mini busses are an established form of public transport. Typically, these services operate in areas where demand is low (rural areas), very specific (airport shuttles), or only for certain user groups, such as persons with disabilities. With advances in communication technologies and possible driverless operations in the future, DRT systems may ...
